The streak goes on....

Pierce Manufacturing has recently released a look at the new Dash CF Engine. Of course a couple of members of the Lego fire community were quick to jump and release prototypes of the new cab. Continuing his hot steak....unlike the New Jersey Devils hockey team...Matt J built his rendition of the new Pierce.

Hot Streak!

Not sure who is on a hotter streak; Ilya Kovalchuk and the New Jersey Devils or Matt Jacobsen and the Jakeland Fire Department.

Though the JLFD is facing budget woes, Matt has been busting out some great rigs lately. A recent new pair of ALF engines and this 2010 Pierce Arrow XT aerial dubbed Squad 3.

Squad 3 is equipped with a 75ft ladder with a 1500 gpm pump and 500 gallon tank. Perfect for everyday firefighting. Matt also equips Squad 3 with vehicle extrications tools making this Pierce a versatile piece of apparatus.

Matt pays excellent attention to detail in his builds. Squad 3 shows some of his best work.

2010 C60 Best Rescue

To wrap up the apparatus 2010 Best of's, FireBricks ends with Bob K's Rescue 1.

We ask Bob thoughts about and behind Rescue 1. "As for Rescue 1, its a 2010 Pierce Saber 6-man non-walk-thru rescue.  It wasn't modeled after any particular truck.  However, after thinking about it, it looks like a combination of Rescues 1 and 3.  Rescues 1 & 2 were once walk-in rescues, but I found that storage was sacrificed.  So, I redesigned both rescues, one at a time.  I'm quite pleased how it came out."

As most of us are going to be affected by the upcoming winter storm, I thought for this month we could pay homage to the City of New York since they have seen record snow this winter.

NYFD Squad 1 was a recent victim of getting caught in the snow. What I am looking for? Two winners will be selected. Winner 1: a replica of Squad 1’s Seagrave. Winner 2: a scene with this Seagrave in the snow being pulled out. (See bigmike33x other photos for details)

What's that on the end?

Its Christan Collins  2010 Pierce Arrow XT with an 75 ft Snozzle, dub “The Snoz”. The Snoz operates as Engine 1 protecting the City of Brickville.

An Engine is an Engine, but what makes this Engine unique is the Snoozle attachment. The Snoozle is a long reach waterway that gives firefighters a master stream with a water/foam flow ranging from 150 to 1500 g.p.m. while providing safety. As seen here during a recent trailer truck fire in Brickville, firefighters were able to contain the fire while maintaining a safe distance.

I am not a big fan of Brickshelf, but from time to time I venture on there and find some real gems! The Lego Beach Fire Brigade is a department I am unfamilar with, but really like the design of his rigs. This 2006 Pierce Saber Pumper Tanker is one of my favorite's from LBFB's department. A well designed tanker that has a very clean finish to it. Not overly detailed, but well balanced.

Jan 2011 Apparatus of the Month Contest

To all you Pierce fans....first apparatus for the new year. This Pierce PUC pumper has some great details that I'm looking for to make a posting in FireBricks. Including upper hatch compartments, roll up doors, LED warning lights, flood lights and the light tower. Contest starts Jan 1, ends Jan. 31st.

Quint 1 of the LCFR

Lego Creek’s Fire/Rescue has recently returned to Mocpages, and with a vengeance. Alex W is another builder who has his own unique style that stand out from the rest. On top of the attention to detail, Alex highlights his trucks with some of the best graphics out there.

Lego Creek equip.’s its departments with Quints to handle all fire fighting duties. Quint 1 of the LCFR is a 2010 Peirce Velocity with a 100ft ladder. This 2000 gpm pump with 300 gallon tank shows some of Alex’s finest work.

One note of attention. Custom parts are not necessary true to Lego building. Alex custom fitted the tip of the ladder’s on his Quints. Some lego purist look down at customizing, as well as “painting” parts. Personally, it is not a route I would go, but Alex pulled it off with style. Let me know your take on customizing parts below.

Faster than you can say “build!” Thomas D of St. Lego Fire & Rescue has created this great looking version of DFD’s Engine 49. The red on red wheels is a great combination!

Look forward to more creations from Thomas D and St.Lego in the future.

Who needs a fire hydrant?

When I first found my way to Mocpages, there were two builders who caught my attention immediately that served as my inspiration for pursuing apparatus building. One is Steven Asbury.

Steven has a very distinctive look to his creations that cannot be mistaken for anyone else. So distinctive that they have been mistaken for real apparatus a first glance.

This beast of a tanker; Engine 7 was my inspiration for my E-One tanker. Its 3000 gpm pump, 2000 gallon tank with foam system is enough to extinguish any fire in a Lego town! Steven has well detailed this Tanker with deck gun, spot lights, pump panel and 8 compartment doors.

Bob K’s LTFD Engine 2

To start off the launch of FireBricks, the first posting goes to Bob K and Engine 2 of his LTFD . This 2009 Pierce Arrow XT is built with a 2000 gpm pump, 500 gallon water tank, and a 40 gallon foam tank. This engine has the rare 1x4x4 red colored door for the rear compartments.

Bob captures the look of today’s real fire engine with the hose bed, detailed pump panel, front light bar, booster real and deck gun. His personal touch with chevrons, pin stripes and engine number give it a realistic look.

When new builders make their way into the fire community, you hear one name mentioned over and over as inspiration, and this Engine explains why.
